The good old days

King Edward V11 keychain

King Edward V11 keychain

Have you ever heard your parents or grandparents say “those were the good ole days”? I often heard my parents say it. So I want to share with you something about a relative of mine. She had to iron an outfit for her daughter for an important occasion, and didn’t her iron break down? So she phoned her husband all upset because her daughter needed her dress ironed for that very night. So her husband said to her, don’t worry I have an idea, I will iron it when I get home. She said to him, how are you going to do that? he said ,you know the three antique irons we have? Well there is one that is not rusty, I will use that, heat it on the stove and put a damp cloth over the dress and iron it. A little later she phoned him and said,”it is done, I ironed the dress the way you explained it BUT my arm is so sore, how did our ancestors every put up with the pain seeing as they had three irons, two heating on the stove while using the third one. And she continued to say “If my washer breaks down , don’t think for one minute that I will use my old scrub board.” So maybe those good old days were not so good after all, what do you think?  I love antiques and the stories that goes along with them. I once bought an old floor model radio with tubes in the back, I paid five dollars for it, good buy huh? Gave it away to my relatives. Now the keychain above is a great souvenir to keep, it was from a 1910 big penny and that was the same year that King Edward died. I also have other items in my gallery with his image on it, you can check it out at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*   and you can also check out the rest of my gallery ,be sure to have lots of time, and bring your favorite beverage and enjoy.
Have a great day

Acadians and Cajuns

Acadian Hat

Acadian Hat

Today I would like to talk about Acadians and Cajuns. I have been into genealogy for a very long time, and I have dug in records, wills, census, newspapers and land grants. I have written to parish priests in my search of my elusive ancestors. Now I am not totally Acadian, I have some English blood, french canadian blood and  way way back even a tad of Native American Blood. But I was always intrigued by my Acadian side. I guess to begin with, I always loved Acadian music, the fiddles, the square dances, the stepdancers, the french songs. So I began tracing my Acadian side, Cormiers,Boudreau,Leger,Landry,Breau,Meunier,Martin and so on. Tracing my Cormier line there was a Cormier who escaped from the Fort while he was a prisoner there. He disguised himself as a woman and once free ran for his life. My Leger Ancestor was a drummer soldier he settled in Round Hill Nova Scotia. My Cormier ancestor came over at the age of 8 and he became the founder of the Cormiers in Acadie and even in Louisiana. Which brings me to the Cajuns. After the deportation of the Acadians in 1755, many of them were sent in various vessels all over the place, to North Carolina, Virginia,Massachussetts,Haiti ,France etc. Later on Louisiana offered some Acadians some land  and the Acadians accepted . Some later went to join their relatives and friends. These Acadians were later to become know as Cajuns. You have heard the jokes about Boudreaux and Thibodeaux? Well if you notice the X at the end of their names, they spelled it that way later on, before that the Acadians spelled it Boudreau or Boudrot and Thibodeau.I have met many Cajuns on line, and the similarities between them and the Acadians are amazing. We share many of the same sayings, we both love music and fun, and families are important to. I love Cajun musicians,Zacharie Richard,Doug Kershaw ,Joel Saulnier and more.Acadian singers that I like are Edith Butler, Barachois, the Arsenaults among others. The Cajuns and Acadians love festivals, Cajuns have Mardi Gras,Acadians have Acadian Days. In the year 2014 there will be a gathering called the CMA2014, or Acadian World Gathering, to be held in Maine USA, Northern New Brunswick and Quebec with Acadian descendants coming from all over the world, which is a site to behold. I am hoping to meet many new Cajun cousins along with Acadians ones too. Now I have created some Acadian and Cajun articles in my gallery, I have surname hats, I have tee shirts, badges, buttons, mugs ,I have Cajun shoes,Acadian shoes , so if you are in the vicinity I hope you will stop by and check out my Acadian,Cajun and surname folders at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*

Thanks for the visit

Have a great day

Emails and Scams

Cartoon images on Children Shoes

Cartoon images on Children Shoes

First of all before I talk about the image, I would like to talk about the emails we get and how some of them are scams and dangerous to open. Have you ever gotten emails from the following  yahoo,MSN,Pay pal, banks, and anything else familiar with your personal accounts? Well don’t open them, delete them, they will say something like they need to update your accounts, they ask for your name ,passwords, account # etc, don’t do it, delete it. Yahoo once told me they would never send any such mail to anyone. If you have more than one email, you will sometimes notice these same messages coming to your other mail too. Don’t open them ,just delete them. Also have you ever gotten mail saying one of your friends wants you to join them, you have to click accept? Don’t do it, contact that friend personally and ask them if they sent it and what it is all about. Also not sure how true this is, but all the jokes you get which are forwarded? I would check into that too, I don’t usually forward jokes and I usually delete them when I get them. There is so much stuff going on ,on the internet, sometimes it is scary. So please be very cautious at opening your mail, I don’t open greeting cards because they can be a virus. Someone can also steal you identity , I had an email which I deleted where I was getting letters to me from me with my very same email addee selling Viagara. So beware and be careful.

Now getting back to the shoes above, these are Keds Children Shoes, you can buy them with laces or slip ons, I think these are great for any child, I have created lots more of them with different designs and also I have created ladies and mens shoes if you are in the vicinity do stop by and have a look at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*

Thanks for the visit, I do hope the above advice will be worthwhile

What are fads?

What are fads? Who creates them? Have you ever wondered?

Well first of all Fads are crazes,or things started by one certain person and everyone wants to do it. Hula hoops was a fad, and do you remember back when everyone had a hula hoop. What about the yoyo? It was also a fad.Bobby Sox ,Duck tail,Brush Cut,yes they were all fads. What about the Iroquois hair cut? Bell bottom slacks or pants ,the mini skirts, the bikini, all these were fads  started by someone. Now  Zazzle has Keds shoes for men , women and children, many zazzlers have created their own unique styles and designs. So hopefully these shoes may become fads. Be the first to buy them and wear them. See how many friends will follow you.I have created some men, women and children shoes, I am quite proud of my own ideas and I do hope you will also like them. I shall be adding more later. So I hope you will got to http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*  click on shoes and find a nice pair to suit you.

Where has Zazzyallicor been?

Hello everyone, no I did not leave, and I know many have been wondering why I haven’t blogged in a while.Well I was scheduled for surgery late Feb. so I figured it would be nothing, I would be up in no time. Had foot surgery, how bad can that be, I said to myself, oh in two days I will be up walking. Not so, I was so very wrong. The pain was unbearable, two days later guess what? I felt this rash along my jaw line, I thought it must be the pillow from just lying there. The next morning I got up and lo and behold the rash had spread all under my neck, side of my face into my scalp. Looked at the side effects from my pills, oh no, if a rash appears go to the ER. So off to the ER I went. The doctor came,I was expecting him to say yep you got a bad allergic reaction. But he looked at me and the rash and said,”My dear you have the shingles. So am on meds for ten days.So as you can see, I had a reason for not coming to see you .My friend also landed in the heart hospital,is out and has to return for heart surgery. Surely all this will be over soon.

In the meantime I am up in my wheelchair, took a few steps today and I went and created more stuff for my gallery. If you happen to go to my gallery at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*  and click on the tee shirts you will see my latest monster or creature t-shirt called weido. I wonder if you will know what it is?I can tell you it is a one of a kind monster. He is on the back of some hoodies ,too. I created a few more mugs, and even new shoes .Did you know that I now create men’s shoes too? There are two kinds, the hi rise and the low, they are athletic shoes, so have a look at those while you are checking my gallery. I will try to come back very soon, in the meantime, do not thing I have forgotten you.

Until then have a great day
